It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia LIVE at the Troubador in Los Angeles!

This weekend we were in LA to see It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia LIVE at the Troubador in West Hollywood. As promised it was a super-fun experience. More TV comedies should do this!

Essentially, it was a live version of Episode 13 of Season 4, "The Nightman Cometh." It started in the bar and ended with the show. Every scene was exactly the same as it was in the show, with some added extras as a part of the Nightman Cometh musical itself. They were hilarious in the way we expect from this show--full of double entendres and unintended sexual innuendos.

The Troubador is a standing-room-only venue and it was a bit uncomfortable to stand for 2 hours through the opening act to ensure you got a close position for the show. But when the cast finally came out, the crowd went wild. They had to wait for at least a full minute before the first line could come out and after every line of the beginning few lines because of all the cheering. Eventually the crowd quieted down and we saw Charlie, Mac, Dennis, Dee, Frank, Artemis, and the Waitress conform to the roles we know and love, if a bit awkwardly on the live stage.

Danny Devito (Frank) was clearly the most comfortable on the stage. He remained unfazed through all the cheering. Rob McElhenny (Mac) and Charlie Day (Charlie) and Artemis Pebdani (Artemis) seemed energized by the live crowd, while the rest possibly were a bit thrown off. In the end, though it was a quality performance and I LOVED it! I'm so glad we got tickets!
