Holy Cow! Fashion is moving faster than ever...

Okay, so I'm on Elle.com today (shhh... don't tell my boss) and I saw a heading that said, "Check out the pre-spring trends early."

I'm thinking, "Isn't it already spring/summer 2008?" I think sure, I'll check out the fashion for this season (not really cutting edge, Elle.com, but whatever).

Lo and behold, what do I see, but RESORT 2009! WHAT THE HECK? It used to be resort trends were a sort of afterthought. A general nod of "here's more things you can spend your money on if you are going someplace warm on vacation during winter time or if you live in Australia." But now, it's a full fledged season!

I ask you, in the dead of winter, do I really want to see bikinis and flowing sarongs? NO! Even if I went on vacation I'd be packing my basic black bikini, maybe updated last summer and the plethora of dresses I already have in my closet. But buy more to make sure I'm actually fashionable this season? I don't think so.

What are you people doing to my wallet and wardrobe? How can I keep up with this when I start designing a line in 5 to 10 years? I can barely think ahead to fall right now, much less friggin' pre-spring and resort wear.
